At the System Update event, Coinbase Business Head Sid Coelho Prabhu introduced PLVR as a representative use case for real-world live entertainment. The presentation highlighted how PLVR integrates Coinbase Business and Payment Links to support both traditional payment channels and crypto payments, enabling global instant payments, zero chargeback risk, no settlement delays, and offering advantages in fee structure compared to traditional credit card-based payment systems.
PLVR is a data and financial infrastructure platform built for the live entertainment industry. The first application built on PLVR is PLVR Ticketing. PLVR Ticketing aims to simplify the ticket purchasing experience for audiences while guiding the next billion users into the blockchain world. With a checkout process that requires no registration and completes payment in four steps, users can purchase tickets without creating an account. Each ticket is minted on EVM blockchains such as Base and BNB Chain and is directly delivered to a pre-generated Coinbase Wallet, enabling verifiable on-chain ownership and helping to reduce the common fraud risks in traditional ticketing systems.
PLVR has been validated in large-scale scenarios, serving numerous top music festivals in Asia, including NEON Countdown, Thailand 808 Festival, Indonesia DWP, and Singapore Charlotte de Witte 2025. Since its official launch in April 2025, PLVR has supported over 200 live events and completed the onboarding of 100,000 users. Through a unified payment layer, PLVR enables organizers to accept both cryptocurrency and traditional payment methods in the same process. In addition to payments and ticketing, PLVR also assists organizers in bringing more aspects of the live entertainment lifecycle onto the blockchain.
PLVR has integrated x402 to support agentic payment processes, achieving a more autonomous payment interaction while keeping the overall user experience simple and familiar.
