Repsol and Hedera: what can it contribute to the near future of $HBAR
The incorporation of Repsol into the Hedera Governing Council represents a significant step for the corporate adoption of the Hedera network and, by extension, for the HBAR token ecosystem.
Repsol does not arrive as a speculative player, but as an energy multinational with global operations, which adds institutional credibility and reinforces the image of Hedera as a valid infrastructure for real use in large corporations.
One of the initial areas of interest is the use of decentralized digital identity (DID). Through Hedera, Repsol can implement verifiable credentials for employees, suppliers, and partners, optimizing processes such as KYC/KYB, reducing fraud, and improving operational efficiency. These use cases generate real activity on the network, as each operation consumes HBAR as fuel.
Moreover, as a member of the Council, Repsol participates directly in the governance of Hedera, influencing strategic decisions, technical priorities, and future standards. This may favor the development of solutions aimed at sectors such as energy, sustainability, and supply chains.
In the medium term, Repsol's presence may also pave the way for applications related to energy traceability, emissions certification, sustainability, or tokenization of real assets, areas where Hedera already shows technical advantages such as low cost, high speed, and reduced carbon footprint.
