A STREET ARTIST PAINTED A GIANT MURAL IN PARIS AND HID 1,000 DOLLARS OF #BITCOIN INSIDE THE PAINTING FOR WHOEVER COULD DECIPHER IT.
Pascal Boyart is a French artist who believes that art should be free. In 2019, he painted an impressive mural on a street in Paris, inspired by the work "Liberty Leading the People," but with yellow vests (the French protesters).
But the mural had a secret.
Pascal announced on Twitter: "I have hidden 0.28 Bitcoins (about 1,000 dollars at that time) inside this mural. The first one to decipher it keeps them."
You didn’t have to break the wall. You had to stand in front of it, look at it, analyze the colors and the visually hidden codes.
Hundreds of "geeks" and treasure hunters went to the street. Others tried to solve it with high-resolution photos from their homes.
After a week, an anonymous person solved the visual riddle and transferred the funds. It was the modern version of a pirate treasure map, but in the middle of the city and with digital money.
If you saw a QR code painted on a graffiti in your city, would you scan it or think it is just art?
