In today’s crypto industry, where AI narratives are sweeping across it, most projects are competing to see how “smart” their AI strategies are—yet few people first answer the most fundamental question: where exactly are the security guardrails for on-chain AI automation? This is also the core reason I’ve been paying close attention to Newton Protocol—rather than piling on flashy concepts, it first builds a dedicated secure Rollup foundation for AI-driven on-chain strategies.

Users who are familiar with on-chain automation tools have likely had similar concerns: if you hand a wallet’s permissions to an AI agent, will there be a risk of assets being stolen or unauthorized operations being executed? If the automation platform is centralized, will it secretly misuse users’ assets? And since the strategy execution process is like a black box, if something goes wrong, there’s no way to trace it back. Newton Protocol’s answer addresses these security pain points from the ground up: by using Keystore Rollup to implement layered key management, together with the zkPermissions programmable permission framework, users can precisely set the operating boundaries for their AI agents—for example, only allowing transactions of a specified amount within a designated protocol. Permissions remain fully controllable end-to-end and can be revoked at any time, while ultimate control of assets stays firmly with the user themselves.

Meanwhile, the execution process of all AI strategies will be verified on-chain through zero-knowledge proofs and trusted execution environments. Every step is traceable and verifiable, eliminating the technical possibility of black-box operations and malicious tampering. Simply put, what Newton is doing is not "wrapping an AI layer over DeFi." Instead, it first builds a secure "operational vault," then enables AI to run stably within compliant boundaries.

The official launch of the Newton Mainnet Beta is a milestone step for the project. It means that this secure Rollup architecture has fully moved from theory to real on-chain operation. The roles of participants in the entire ecosystem are also clearly defined: developers can list their own AI agent models on the Model Registry and receive ongoing revenue splits; node operators provide network services by staking $NEWT, earning transaction fees and ecosystem incentives; ordinary users can use NEWT to pay network gas fees and enjoy low-risk AI automation strategy services, or stake to participate in network security governance and share in the ecosystem’s growth dividends. At the same time, NEWT is also the protocol’s core governance token, with deep involvement in network parameter tuning and ecosystem development decisions. The value capture pathway is complete and forms a closed loop.

In my view, in the long-term track of AI + blockchain, security will always be the leading "1," while performance, efficiency, and gameplay are only the following "0." Without a security foundation for AI automation, even the smartest solution is just a castle in the air. Newton Protocol’s roadmap of "first laying a solid security foundation, then growing ecosystem applications" actually feels especially solid amid the market’s restless narratives. With the Mainnet Beta continuing to run and more AI strategies and developers joining, the value of $NEWT will gradually be released alongside the ecosystem’s prosperity. I look forward to Newton carving out a truly sustainable development path in the AI + DeFi space.
