Jeffrey Epstein's $850,000 Donation Indirectly Funded Cryptocurrency Initiative

According to BlockBeats, on December 20, the U.S. Department of Justice released investigation documents related to the Epstein case, showing that the $850,000 donated by Jeffrey Epstein to MIT indirectly funded the cryptocurrency initiative. This initiative hired Bitcoin Core developers during the collapse of the Bitcoin Foundation in 2015.

Emails described Epstein's nine secret visits to MIT, code-named "Voldemort," where he met with Brock Pierce and Larry Summers at his mansion to discuss Bitcoin. Despite concerns about reputational risk, Summers was optimistic about Bitcoin opportunities.

In 2018, Epstein sought cryptocurrency tax advice from Steve Bannon, revealing his elite network connections in the cryptocurrency space, but there is no evidence to suggest that he had any actual influence on Bitcoin development.
