🧠Crypto Education: How to Read Market Emotions? 📊
In my post yesterday, I told you that the Fear & Greed Index entered “Extreme Fear” (level 11). But what does this really mean, and why do professionals watch it so closely?
The Fear & Greed Index is a tool that analyzes market sentiment on a scale from 0 to 100. To measure it, it combines several key data points:
📈 Volatility (25%): Compares Bitcoin’s current volatility with the averages from the last 30 and 90 days.
🔊 Market Volume (25%): Measures the strength of daily buying and selling.
📱 Social Media (15%): Analyzes the pace and interactions of hashtags on digital platforms.
👑 Dominance (15%): If Bitcoin’s dominance rises, it usually reflects fear (people look for safety in BTC and leave the altcoins behind).
🕸️ Search Trends (10%): Google data on what people are actively searching for.
💡 The investor’s golden rule:
Extreme fear is often a sign that investors are too worried, which often represents a buying opportunity (discount zones). On the other hand, extreme greed means the market is overbought and a correction may be coming.
As Warren Buffett once said: “Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful.”
Do you use this indicator in your strategy, or do you prefer to rely purely on technical analysis? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! 👇
