🛡️ Your wallet is your fortress! How not to get robbed in the crypto world?
In the world of cryptocurrencies, you are your own bank. This gives freedom but also imposes a huge responsibility. Hackers do not sleep, which is why today we will go through the Golden Security Standard on Binance that everyone should implement right away.
🔑 1. Forget about SMS! Choose 2FA with an app
SMS verification is susceptible to so-called SIM swap (the takeover of your SIM card by scammers).
Change to: Google Authenticator or Binance Authenticator.
Why? The code is generated locally on your phone, which drastically complicates hacking, even if someone knows your password.
🛡️ 2. Hardware keys (e.g., YubiKey)
This is the highest level of security available on Binance.
How does it work? Logging in or withdrawing funds requires physically touching a small device plugged into a USB port or held against a phone (NFC). Without the physical key, no one can access your funds, even from the other side of the world.
🚫 3. Address Whitelisting
This is a lifesaving feature in crisis situations.
What does it consist of? You can block withdrawals to any new wallet addresses. If you want to withdraw crypto to a new address, you must first approve it and wait (e.g., 24h). If a hacker gains access to your account, they won’t be able to withdraw funds before you react.
🎣 4. Anti-Phishing Code
Did you know that emails from 'Binance' can be fake?
Solution: In the security settings, set your own Anti-Phishing Code (e.g., your favorite word). From now on, every legitimate email from the exchange will contain this word in the corner. No code = attempted fraud.
⚠️ Remember the most important rule:
Binance employees will NEVER contact you first on Telegram, WhatsApp, or DM, asking for your password, 2FA codes, or to transfer funds to a 'safe account'. If someone does this – it’s 100% a scam.
