The "Asia-Pacific High Net Worth Individuals Report 2025" from Swiss digital asset bank Sygnum has made a splash! The data shows that over 80% of Asian high-net-worth individuals already hold cryptocurrency assets, and half of them allocate over 10% of their total assets, with the average proportion reaching as high as 17%—cryptocurrencies, once labeled as speculative, have now become standard for wealth management among the wealthy.
This group of billionaires has long since abandoned the obsession with "short-term wealth creation": 90% of respondents include cryptocurrency assets in their long-term wealth inheritance planning, and 56% explicitly state that the initial purpose of allocation is to hedge against traditional market risks and achieve investment diversification. They do not chase niche high-risk tokens; 80% focus on mainstream currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, which have been tested by the market, using investment cycles of over ten years to validate the value retention of digital assets.
Compliance is a core demand: 87% of billionaires clearly require private banks to access regulated cryptocurrency services, and precise regulations in places like Singapore and Hong Kong have dispelled concerns—what seems like strict entry standards actually filters out institutional-level service providers, building a solid safety barrier for large amounts of capital.
The trend is still intensifying: more than half of billionaires plan to increase their cryptocurrency allocation in the coming years, and 60% are optimistic about the prospects in two to five years. Amid macroeconomic fluctuations, the low correlation of cryptocurrency assets with traditional markets, preferences of younger generations brought by intergenerational wealth transfer, and the improvement of compliance infrastructure together drive this wave.
