Uniswap activates the "Protocol Fee Switch" after a historic vote 🦄
It is expected that the Uniswap protocol will activate the Protocol Fee Switch for the first time this week, after the UNIfication proposal reached the quorum with little opposition.
This step is considered one of the largest upgrades in the platform's history, which spans over seven years, and may represent an important shift in the revenue model within the largest decentralized exchange (DEX).
Activating the protocol fees means that part of the trading fees will be directed to the protocol's treasury or to UNI holders according to governance mechanisms, enhancing the sustainability of the ecosystem and giving governance a more impactful economic role.
The decision is also seen as a signal of Uniswap's maturity and its transition from a phase of rapid growth to a phase of enhancing long-term value.
