Recently, the largest hardware crypto wallet company Ledger released a "Recovery" update, which offers users an alternative way to store their seed phrase and emergency wallet recovery in case of loss of security words. The company suggested dividing the passphrase into three parts and storing it with three independent organizations in encrypted form, to which users reacted violently, responding that they do not want to share their secret phrases with third parties, even in exchange for wallet recovery via KYC. However, Ledger stated in defense of its new feature for extracting the SEED phrase from the device that in fact the company could always do this.
