1. What is it?
Imagine the price of an asset as a path.
In the traditional bank or stock market: The path is a gentle hill. Prices rise or fall by 1% or 2% in a month.
In Cryptocurrencies: The path is an extreme roller coaster. The price of a coin can rise by 20% in the morning and fall by 30% in the afternoon.
This ability to change price quickly and unpredictably is called volatility.

2. Why does it happen?
There are four main reasons:
*Young and small market: Compared to gold or the dollar, the crypto market is small. If someone with a lot of money ("whale") buys or sells suddenly, it moves the price of the entire coin.
*Sentiment and news: A news story about a new law, a tweet from an influencer, or a technological breakthrough can trigger massive buying out of fear of missing out (FOMO) or panic selling.
*Available 24/7: Unlike the stock market, Binance never closes. The market reacts to global events in real time, at any hour.
*Speculation: Many users buy hoping that the price will rise quickly to sell, which accelerates sharp movements.

3. Survival guide for new users
If you are going to trade, engrave these three concepts in your mind:
A. Not all coins are equal
$BTC y and $ETH : They are large ships. They move, but are more stable within the chaos.
Altcoins: They are like speedboats. They can shoot up to the sky or sink in seconds.
Stablecoins (like USDT): They are coins that always equal $1. They are your "safe haven" when the market is very crazy.

B. Use the "Seatbelt"
On Binance, you can set up an order called Stop-Loss. It is an instruction that says: "If this coin drops from this price, sell it automatically so it doesn't lose more". It is one option among many.

C. The golden rule
"Never invest money that you need to pay for rent or food."

Volatility means that today you can have $100 and tomorrow $70 or $130. Invest only what you can afford to see drop without panicking.
