1️⃣ First, understand what you’re buying
Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins... they’re not the same. Each asset has a purpose, a technology, and a different level of risk. Don’t buy something just because "it’s pumping" or because someone on TikTok said so. Research the project: what problem does it solve? Who’s behind it? Does it have real utility?
2️⃣ Only invest what you can lose
This isn’t a cliché. The crypto market is volatile by nature. Prices can drop 30%, 50%, or more in a matter of days. If you put in money you need for your monthly expenses, you’re gambling, not investing.
The rule: if losing that money changes your quality of life, don't play with it.
3️⃣ Diversify, but with reason
Don't put all your chips in one coin. But also, don't buy 20 different tokens just because "you're spreading the risk". Diversifying without understanding is just gambling. Start with the most solid assets (BTC, ETH) and from there, if you want to explore, do it with a smaller fraction of your capital.
4️⃣ Understand the difference between holding and custody
Leaving your assets on an exchange is convenient, but remember: "not your keys, not your coins". If the exchange goes bust or gets hacked, you could lose it all. Learn what a wallet is and when it makes sense to use one.
5️⃣ Beware of guaranteed return promises
In crypto, there are no guaranteed returns. If someone offers you a fixed 10% monthly or a referral scheme to multiply your investment... run. Ponzi schemes are rampant in this space. Protecting your capital is also a strategy.
6️⃣ The bear market is your best school
Don't jump into crypto only when everything's rising. The downturns are when true learning happens: which projects survive, how you react emotionally, if your strategy makes sense. The best investors don’t chase the lowest price; they seek consistency.
