I want to tell you about the moment I realised $XLM was not the opportunity I thought it was.
I was looking at the Stellar roadmap and noticed something that most people gloss over, the Stellar Development Foundation holds and controls a significant portion of XLM's total supply, they can and release coins into the market regularly to fund operations and partnerships.
That means every time XLM's price starts building momentum, there is an entity with billions of coins ready to sell into that momentum, not because they are malicious but because that is literally how they fund the project.
I compared that to $ZEC where no foundation controls the supply, no entity can release more than what the protocol allows and the halving just made that supply even tighter, and I realised I was choosing between a coin with a built in ceiling and a coin with a built in floor.

I spent an afternoon going through $XLM 's tokenomics and I came out with one question that I still cannot shake.
If the Stellar Development Foundation controls billions of XLM in reserve and can release them into the market at any time, who is actually protecting the price of the coin I am holding?
XLM has 30.5 billion coins in circulation today and its all time high was $0.938 from 2018, that was seven years ago and the coin has never been back, every bull run has come and gone and XLM has consistently fallen short of its previous peak while the coins with hard supply caps and no controlling foundation keep making new records.
I have nothing against the Stellar project, the technology is real and the use case is legitimate, but I personally cannot ignore what the supply structure does to the long term price potential and right now my money is going elsewhere. 🤔
