About Aptos (APT)
Aptos is a decentralized network designed to give web3 developers a contemporary platform to build dApps. Decentralized applications on the independent Aptos blockchain are said to be geared towards safety, superior user experience and upgrade capabilities. DApps created on the Aptos platform are written in the rather newly-developed Move programming language, making Aptos the first decentralized ecosystem to do so.
The Aptos whitepaper was published in September 2022 and the Aptos Autumn mainnet was launched not long after, on October 22, 2022, becoming the first blockchain to implement the Move language in a live network setting. Move is a Rust-based computer coding language which was independently developed by Meta, formerly Facebook, which is how Aptos came about. The Aptos decentralized project is a tech start-up officially, and essentially the continuation of the abandoned Web3 project by Meta.
The company has claimed that ultimately Aptos will be able to support transaction speeds of around 130,000 transactions per second (tps). This is said to be empowered by an innovation called Block-STM, a parallel execution engine to the smart contract-equipped Aptos mainnet. In a unique model, transactions processed simultaneously are validated afterwards, and single failed transactions reportedly do not slow up processing in the network due to the technology at work.
The Aptos network token is designed to power operations running along the decentralized platform. The 30+ decentralized applications already deployed on the platform while still within the first two weeks of release, and of course, dApps which companies and developers choose to build within the ecosystem in the future also utilize the network cryptocurrency in facilitating blockchain products and services.
