What is Fabric Protocol (ROBO)?
Fabric Protocol is an open blockchain network designed to support coordination between autonomous robots and digital agents. The network is maintained by the Fabric Foundation, a non-profit organization responsible for supporting the protocol and its development. Fabric provides infrastructure that enables machines, developers, and operators to interact through verifiable computing supported by a public ledger.
The project focuses on integrating artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchain infrastructure into a shared ecosystem. Fabric Protocol coordinates data exchange, computing resources, and regulatory processes through modular on-chain infrastructure. This structure allows robots and autonomous agents to operate within a system where machine identity, collaboration, and activity can be verified and recorded on the network.
The ROBO token functions as the operational token within the Fabric network. It is primarily used to coordinate activity between participants and infrastructure providers. Robot operators can stake ROBO as performance bonds to access the network, while developers and users may use the token to pay for services such as computing resources, data access, and application programming interfaces. Token holders can also delegate capacity to operators and participate in governance through time-locked voting. In addition, ROBO supports coordination of robot deployment and provides incentives for contributors who help maintain network operations. The token is designed strictly for network functionality and coordination and does not represent ownership, revenue rights, or claims on physical robot assets.
The project originated from OpenMind, a technology company founded in 2024 by Stanford professor Jan Liphardt. The company focused on building an AI-native operating system called OM1 and the Fabric coordination protocol for robotics. In August 2025, the project secured 20 million dollars in funding led by Pantera Capital. Following this development phase, a test network was launched to enable on-chain machine identity and collaboration. In December 2025, the initiative established the independent Fabric Foundation and released its whitepaper as part of the transition toward broader protocol governance.
ROBO serves as the native token that supports incentives, network participation, and governance within the Fabric ecosystem. It helps coordinate developers, operators, and other participants through a shared economic and technical framework. The circulating supply and total supply of the ROBO token are determined by the distribution structure defined by the Fabric Protocol network.
The ROBO token has a total and maximum supply of 10 billion tokens, with approximately 2.23 billion tokens currently in circulation.
