What is Sentient (SENT)?
Sentient is an open artificial general intelligence (AGI) protocol designed to form a decentralized and community-owned AI ecosystem. Its core objective is to create a shared infrastructure where AI models, data, and contributors can interact openly while being rewarded fairly for verifiable work. Sentient aims to address a long-standing imbalance in the AI industry, where open-source contributors often drive innovation but capture little of the economic value.
At the center of Sentient’s design is the idea that intelligence should be open, composable, and economically sustainable. Instead of concentrating AI development within a small number of centralized platforms, Sentient introduces a decentralized network where developers, researchers, and users jointly participate in building and improving AI systems. Contributions are tracked transparently through the protocol’s infrastructure, allowing value to flow back to those who meaningfully advance models, data, and tooling.
Sentient was co-founded by a group of leaders spanning academia, blockchain infrastructure, and open-source AI development. Pramod Viswanath, co-founder, brings deep theoretical and systems expertise as the Forrest G. Hamrick Professor of Engineering at Princeton University. Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder, is widely known as the co-founder of Polygon and adds extensive experience in scaling blockchain networks and building crypto ecosystems. Himanshu Tyagi, co-founder, is a professor of engineering at the Indian Institute of Science. Alongside them, Sensys, co-founder, is an open-source AI ecosystem builder who emphasizes openness and collaborative development.
SENT functions as the native utility and governance asset within the Sentient ecosystem. It powers protocol operations, incentive mechanisms, and decision-making. Holders can stake SENT to participate in governance, direct funding toward AI initiatives, and unlock access to models, datasets, and other on-chain artifacts. SENT is also used as the payment medium across the ecosystem, enabling agents, models, and services to transact with one another.
The circulating supply of SENT token is 7.23 billion, with a total supply of 34.35 billion tokens.
SENT token is listed on Binance for trade and purchase. The current price of SENT is available and updated in real-time on Binance.
