šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Trump has officially barred South Africa from attending the 2026 G20 summit in Miami. He claims Pretoria’s ā€œrefusalā€ to hand over the G20 presidency symbolically, along with alleged human-rights abuses against white Afrikaners, justify the exclusion and an end to all U.S. subsidies to the country. South Africa responded sharply — rejecting Trump’s claims as false and calling the ban a ā€œpunitiveā€ and disrespectful move. The dispute has triggered serious diplomatic backlash, threatening to further destabilize US–South Africa relations and raise broader questions about the future of the G20’s multilateral consensus. #Trump #SouthAfrica #G20 #Diplomacy #Geopolitics #breakingnews

šŸ‡æšŸ‡¦ SOUTH AFRICA: NO TO A RETAIL CBDC, YES TO BLOCKCHAIN FOR INTERBANK PAYMENTS šŸ‡æšŸ‡¦ The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has announced that, at least for now, it will not launch a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) intended for citizens. Instead of developing a "digital rand" for retail use, the South African central bank will focus its efforts on wholesale applications and the efficiency of cross-border payments. According to the SARB, the benefits of a retail CBDC do not justify the costs and operational complexities, especially in a country where digital payment systems already exist and function efficiently. The current objective is therefore to explore how blockchain technology can enhance the internal financial infrastructure and make transfers between institutions faster, safer, and less expensive across borders. South Africa, among the most advanced economies on the continent, thus takes a pragmatic and differentiated approach, focusing on concrete use cases of distributed technology rather than a national retail token. A choice that reflects the growing trend of many African central banks: to prioritize the innovation of payment systems rather than the immediate issuance of new forms of digital currency. #BreakingCryptoNews #Africa #SouthAfrica #CBDC

The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, was the target of a diplomatic ambush led by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, during an official visit to the White House. Trump pressured Ramaphosa in front of cameras and aides with false or out-of-context videos. One of them pointed to alleged clandestine cemeteries in the country. With firmness and calmness, Ramaphosa dismantled the charade. He questioned Trump about the origin of the videos, which the Republican admitted to being unaware of. Then, with irony, the South African reacted to the provocation: "I'm sorry, I don't have a plane to give you," he said in a tone that many present interpreted as a veiled denunciation of the promiscuity between Trump and authoritarian regimes, like that of Qatar, from whom he received a luxurious Boeing worth 1 billion. Completely out of diplomatic protocol, the childish attempt at humiliation was the same one used against the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in February, with success. But repeating it against Ramaphosa encountered formidable resistance. Unlike the Ukrainian, the South African president did not get upset, nor did he "get into a shouting match" or stand up. He remained on the same level of sarcasm as Trump, and his demeanor dismantled the arrogance of the American who expected the conversation to devolve into insults and grandstanding, as it did with Zelensky. #news_update #SouthAfrica
