Both countries sign a small pause to benefit from the technological and mineral advantages of their main rival.

The technological crusade between the United States and China has given rise to an unexpected front: the lifting of software export bans. A few weeks ago, both countries strengthened their legislations again, as they believed their rival had acted in bad faith. Now, after an unexpected plot twist, the Americans have decided that the time has come to lift the export restrictions on chip design software (EDA) to China, a decision that comes six weeks after imposing them.

As TechSpot points out, companies like Siemens, Synopsys, and Cadence will benefit from the resumption of unrestricted sales and support to Chinese customers. In fact, the decision comes as a result of an agreement between China and the U.S. related to rare earth minerals: while the former agreed to relax their export controls on this type of territory, the latter accepted to remove some technological restrictions to align with the decision of the Asians.
