We have no supernatural powers, and life is short. We must face the pressures of aging, illness, and the various aspects of daily life such as food, housing, and family. There is pain and sadness, and happiness is so fleeting and rare. Yet, we have not given up; we strive for the small joys that are hard-earned, even if they are ephemeral, we live each day earnestly.

It's like that person; perhaps in a past life he was an emperor, but so what? Does that mean the nation will hand over the reins of power to him? Does that mean he doesn't have to pay a mortgage or utility bills? Who you are in this life is who you are; you should do your role steadily. No matter how remarkable or elevated you were in past lives, don't dwell on the past. Focus on doing what you need to do in this life and prepare well for the next; this is the correct path for a mortal. This is the importance of the present.
