The most painful thing for the trader:

He sees the price breaking resistance, enters a buy eagerly...

Then the price collapses right below it! 😅

This is called: the false breakout – Fake Breakout

🔹 What is a false breakout?

It is a movement where the price breaks:

An important resistance (or support) level

But it doesn't continue in the same direction

And it quickly returns inside the old area

The target is often: hitting stop losses

Removing late traders from the game

Accumulating quantities at a better price

🔹 How do you know if the break is real or false?

This is where momentum + volume come in:

✅ A real break is often characterized by:

Strong breakout candle

Large body

Clear closing above resistance (or below support)

High trading volume

Volume higher than average

Continuation afterwards

Subsequent candles confirm the trend

The price does not return quickly inside the broken range

❌ A false break is often:

A candle breaks strongly, but the next candle reverses the direction (bearish or bullish engulfing).

Inconsistent volume:

Break without strong volume

Or a huge volume in one candle followed by complete calm

The price quickly returns below resistance / above support

And the closing of new candles inside the previous range.

🔹 How to avoid falling into the trap of a false break?

Do not enter on the first touch of the break

Wait for the candle to close above/below the level, do not rely on the wick only.

Watch the trading volume

Break without strong volume = danger alert.

Look for a retest

In the upward break:

The price returns to test the broken resistance as new support

And then bullish momentum reappears.

🎯 Summary of the post

A break without real momentum is often a trap for the quick.

A break supported by momentum + strong volume is often an opportunity for those who wait patiently.
