#linea $LINEA LINEA is the native token of Linea, a “Layer-2” network built on top of Ethereum. Linea is a “zkEVM rollup”: it batches transactions off-chain, then submits cryptographic proofs to Ethereum to guarantee validity — giving faster, cheaper transactions while preserving Ethereum-level security.
Because Linea is EVM-equivalent, existing Ethereum smart contracts can run on Linea without modification — making it easy for developers to migrate or deploy dApps.
🔧 What LINEA Token Is For (and What It Isn't)
Not used for gas fees: On Linea network, transaction fees are paid in Ethereum (ETH), not in LINEA.
Incentive & ecosystem growth: The main purpose of LINEA tokens is to reward users, developers, and builders who contribute to the network — via grants, liquidity incentives, public-goods funding, and ecosystem support.
Deflationary / burn mechanism: Part of Linea’s revenue from ETH gas fees is used to buy back and burn LINEA tokens — reducing supply as network usage rises. Specifically, roughly 80% of net revenue goes to burning LINEA, and 20% to burning ETH.@Linea.eth
