Jarosław Kaczyński stated that cryptocurrencies should be banned. The statement was made in the context of the presidential veto on the cryptocurrency law. Krzysztof Bosak also commented on the matter, sharply criticizing the lack of a coherent vision of the state regarding the digital asset market.

It turns out that Kaczyński does not support Karol Nawrocki's veto at all.

Kaczyński: Cryptocurrencies should be banned

The President of Law and Justice, Jarosław Kaczyński, was asked by journalists for a comment regarding the presidential veto on the cryptocurrency law. The response may have surprised many, as it turns out that it is not at all favorable to Karol Nawrocki's decision.

Jarosław Kaczyński explicitly admitted that he personally supports the idea of cryptocurrencies being banned in Poland. At the same time, he emphasized that the decisive factor regarding the last law was the president's stance, who deemed it overregulated.

Kaczyński's statement may be surprising because Law and Justice, together with the Confederation, are currently leaders when it comes to cryptocurrencies. In both of these parties, there are individuals who know the crypto industry inside out. Thanks to this, they are working on a law that will be in line with the spirit of cryptocurrencies and the expectations of the industry.

Krzysztof Bosak comments

In response to the words of the PiS president, Krzysztof Bosak quickly reacted. He pointed out the clear chaos within the ruling camp. As he indicated, on one hand, Jarosław Kaczyński says that a ban on cryptocurrencies would be the best solution. On the other hand, however, younger MPs from his group publicly defend the crypto market.

Additionally, the chairman of the KNF, appointed on the recommendation of Law and Justice, is taking actions that hinder the development of the sector. At the same time, the head of the President's Office – a former PiS MP – announces a crypto-friendly law project within two weeks.

According to Bosak, such a discrepancy shows that the PiS environment does not have any coherent program regarding cryptocurrencies. In his opinion, the state should go in a completely different direction: simple regulations, clear investment rules, and stable conditions for the industry's development. At the same time, this should be accompanied by effective supervision over financial crimes.

The politician from the Confederation emphasized that the key to combating money laundering and financing of crime is not a ban on cryptocurrencies. The key is controlling the so-called gateways between the crypto world and traditional finance, namely banks, payment institutions, and fintechs. It is precisely at these points, in his opinion, that the services should have effective tools.

Bosak also pointed out the paradox of restrictive regulations. An overly harsh approach to the digital asset market may weaken state control rather than strengthen it. Cryptocurrencies and exchanges will not disappear – they will simply move abroad, beyond the reach of Polish law and Polish services.
