The chairman of the US SEC has spoken out, predicting that within two years, the entire financial market in the United States will migrate to the blockchain. Although this statement is somewhat exaggerated, as someone within the industry, I find it hard to believe that this will fully happen in two years, considering that the size of the entire US financial market is several times larger than the crypto market. However, moving the trading of financial assets onto the blockchain is indeed a transformation that is currently taking place, which is the RWA trading that is expanding market size.
Unlike the open attitude of the Americans, we are tightening the access to virtual currencies, including RWA and stablecoins. There’s not much to say about this; after all, the institutional frameworks are different, and it's all for the sake of respective development and stability. However, for individuals, the next few years will usher in a new wave of wealth transfer. Every time I mention this, I feel fortunate to have learned about this industry early on, and I even feel a bit of sympathy for those who are constrained by their limited perspectives.
A recent major issue is the news about problems with Zhejiang Jin Center's wealth management, where users who invested in large amounts of wealth management products are in a dire situation. These individuals are facing huge investment risks without enjoying high returns, and in a sense, wealth management is just another form of investment if it cannot guarantee returns.
The current market in the cryptocurrency world is indeed difficult to navigate, but to be honest, it is also because everyone has developed a path dependence from the past, which is an excessive expectation for high returns from altcoins, even short-term super high returns. If I ask myself honestly, if I had been investing in mainstream assets all along, especially if I had focused on Bitcoin from the beginning, I would definitely have made a substantial profit. For future investments in the cryptocurrency industry, I believe shifting the investment focus to mainstream assets can yield significant excess returns.
