Cryptocurrency News; U.S. Treasury Bonds Lead the Surge in Tokenization of Real-World Assets (RWAs), with CoinShares Predicting Significant Expansion in 2026.
CoinShares, a firm specializing in digital asset investment, anticipates rapid growth of real-world assets (RWAs) in 2025, driven by increasing global demand for dollar yields on the blockchain and the growing credibility of blockchain technology as a financial infrastructure.
In its 2026 digital asset outlook report, CoinShares confirms that the tokenization of real-world assets is no longer a specialized experiment, but has become a competitive sector attracting major capital allocators, regulated financial institutions, and asset issuers with a strong operational track record.
U.S. Treasury Bonds tokenized more than doubled in 2025. The tokenized assets had their strongest annual performance to date, led by significantly tokenized U.S. government debt. According to CoinShares:
The value of tokenized Treasury bonds rose from $3.91 billion to $8.68 billion in 2025.
The credit risk-weighted assets nearly doubled, increasing from $9.85 billion to $18.58 billion.
The total tokenized risk-weighted assets (excluding stablecoins) reached $18.1 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 229%.
