🇺🇸 TRUMP WANTS TO ELIMINATE STATE LAWS ON AI: WHAT REALLY CHANGES 🇺🇸

Donald Trump has promised an executive order to create a single federal "rulebook" on artificial intelligence, effectively abolishing the patchwork of regulations approved by individual states on deepfakes, privacy, labor, and model security.

In a post on Truth Social, he warned that 50 different rules would "destroy AI in its infancy" and make it impossible for companies to obtain dozens of approvals for every new product.

According to reports, the order would task Attorney General Pam Bondi with creating an AI Litigation Task Force to take states to court, arguing that many AI laws violate interstate commerce or are preempted by federal regulations.

Meanwhile, some agencies could threaten to cut federal funds for broadband and other programs to states deemed too "hostile" towards big AI tech.

This comes as all 50 states have introduced AI legislation in 2025, and at least 38 have already approved nearly 100 measures, often on electoral deepfakes, algorithmic discrimination in the workplace, and risk assessment obligations for large models.

Many governors, attorneys general, and state legislators – both Republicans and Democrats – accuse Trump of federal "overreach" and defend states' rights to protect consumers, workers, and the democratic process.

On the opposite side, giants like OpenAI, Google, and ventures like Andreessen Horowitz have been pushing for federal preemption for months, arguing that a regulatory patchwork penalizes startups and U.S. innovation compared to China and other competitors.

At stake is not just who writes the rules of AI, but who will control the political and economic power of this infrastructure in the coming years.
