I only taught 3 rules, he turned 2700U into 50,000 U, never blowing up once.
Last year, a brother came to me with 2700U, his tone trembling with urgency, saying he wanted to use this money to make back his previous losses.
I didn’t talk to him about moving averages, MACD, or those convoluted topics; I just gave him three solid life-saving rules.
He followed them for three months, and his account not only didn’t blow up but also surged from 2700U to 50,000 U—actually, in the crypto world, sometimes following the rules is more important than understanding the indicators.
First Rule: Split your money into three parts, first protect your principal, then seek profit.
I had him break the 2700U into three portions of 900U, with each portion's purpose strictly defined, not a penny could be moved around.
This is something I learned the hard way when I went all-in and blew up, eating instant noodles for half a month to grasp:
The first portion is for short-term trading, open a position at most twice a day, and close the software right after, lingering a second longer can lead to greed;
The second portion waits for the trend, if the weekly chart hasn’t shown a bullish pattern or broken key levels with volume, just stay put;
The third portion is for emergency funds, if the market suddenly dips and threatens to blow up, use it to add positions, at least it can keep you in the market.
Blowing up means losing a finger at most, losing all your principal is like losing your head—without capital, no matter how good the opportunity, you can’t seize it.
Second Rule: Only take a bite out of the trend, be a turtle at other times.
I’ve stumbled too many times in fluctuations, 9 out of 10 trades left me bleeding.
Later, I only followed the principles: if the daily moving average hasn’t formed a bullish trend, remain in cash, don’t be afraid of missing out;
Only if the market breaks previous highs with volume and can stabilize on the daily, then dare to enter with a small position;
Once profits reach 30% of the principal, withdraw half of the profit, set a 10% trailing stop for the rest.
What you pocket is truly yours; don’t think of trying to take all the market has to offer.
Third Rule: Lock down your emotions, execute mechanically.
Before entering a trade, a plan must be written: a stop-loss fixed at 3%, automatically close the position when it hits, don’t wait for “just a bit longer”; if profits reach 10%, immediately move the stop-loss to break even; every day at midnight, shut down the computer on time, no matter how tempting the K-line is, if you can’t resist, uninstall the app.
The longer you watch, the more chaotic your emotions become, and once they’re disordered, mistakes are guaranteed. The market is there every day; without capital, you have nothing.
