Zcash at risk: Buterin warns about token-based governance Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, expressed his concern about the possible adoption of a token-based governance system by Zcash (ZEC), arguing that this could erode the fundamental privacy values of the cryptocurrency. Buterin believes that token voting is flawed and could prioritize the interests of large holders over long-term privacy goals.
Risks of token voting:
- Concentration of power: Large token holders could dominate governance decisions, marginalizing minority participants. - Short-term incentives: Token holders could prioritize immediate financial gains over privacy protection. - Erosion of privacy: Token-based governance could lead to decisions that compromise Zcash's privacy features.
Buterin suggests that Zcash should resist the adoption of a token-based governance system and instead explore alternatives such as proof-of-stake voting or quadratic voting.
The Zcash community has been debating governance and the possible adoption of a token voting system, with some arguing that this could enhance efficiency and participation, while others fear it could compromise privacy and decentralization. $ZEC

Evidence-backed confirmation: XRP and ADA are not compliant with ISO 20022 standard The discussions about XRP's compliance with the ISO 20022 standard have resurfaced, after Vet (@Vet_X0), a validator of the XRP ledger, confirmed that no cryptocurrency currently, including XRP and Cardano (ADA), meets this standard. $XRP Vet's post came in response to a statement from Charles Hoskinson, the creator of Cardano, who referred to ISO 20022 as part of efforts to unify ADA with advanced financial messaging standards. $ADA Vet wrote in his post: “Friendly reminder: XRP and ADA are not compliant with ISO 20022. No cryptocurrency is compliant.”, supported by a direct quote from the ISO 20022 website, which states that cryptocurrencies are “inherently incompatible with ISO 20022”.
The site adds that “there is a lot of confusion and misinformation on the web about cryptocurrencies compliant with ISO 20022”.
The renewed focus on the topic follows repeated public references that often suggest that the architecture of XRP is built to meet ISO 20022 standards.
But as Vet confirmed, the standard specifies a message format for secure data transmission between financial institutions, not for digital assets or their ledgers.
