Jujur, aku nggak pernah nyangka masalah terbesar liburan ku ke Vietnam bukan soal bahasa, bukan soal nyasar, tapi soal duit yang tiba tiba kemakan fee melulu.

“Kok Saldonya Kurang?”
Waktu itu aku lagi di Ho Chi Minh City. Udah capek jalan seharian, ketemu warung pho yang keliatannya enak banget di pinggir jalan. Harganya murah, sekitar 50.000 VND, less than $2. Aku tap kartu kredit dengan pede.
Ditolak.
Aku coba lagi. Ditolak lagi.
Akhirnya aku tanya ke temen yang udah lebih sering travel, dan dia bilang: “Kamu kena foreign transaction fee sama minimum charge bro. Kartu mu nggak worth it buat transaksi kecil di sini.”
Aku buka aplikasi bank. Dan di situ kulihat, setiap transaksi kecil ku kena potongan 1–1,5% foreign transaction fee, plus beberapa merchant nggak nerima kartu sama sekali. Belum lagi waktu aku narik tunai di ATM lokal, kena biaya Rp40.000 flat per penarikan.
Aku udah keluar duit lebih banyak buat fee daripada buat jajan.

Oke, ku pikir, solusinya tukar uang cash aja. Aku nyari money changer di deket hotel.
