A lot of “to the moon” calls in crypto quietly start with a red PNL.
If you’ve traded long enough, you’ve seen this pattern. Someone posts a price ladder like $MYX heading to 0.14, 0.16, 0.3, 0.6… even 2.5, but the actual position is already deep underwater. That’s the painful part most traders relate to: buying the hype, then watching the chart go the opposite direction.
In one example I saw, a 5x long on $MYX was sitting at -2,076.03 USDT with the position down about -14.42%. Yet the public prediction still mapped out huge upside targets. This happens a lot in crypto markets. Once someone enters a leveraged trade, the narrative often shifts from analysis to hope.
The risk gets worse with leverage. A 14% move against you on 5x isn’t just a small dip, it’s the kind of drawdown that can push a position toward liquidation if volatility spikes. Meanwhile traders watching from the sidelines might see the bullish targets and assume momentum is building, when in reality the underlying trade is already struggling. We’ve seen similar sentiment cycles around $BTC and $ETH during volatile periods.
Price targets are easy to post. Managing downside risk is the harder skill most traders skip.

Signals can be useful ideas, but treating them like guaranteed outcomes is where most accounts bleed.
