Not the textbook definition you read in some dusty finance book, but the real-deal market mechanics: where the actual buy and sell orders (and all those retail stop-losses) are hiding.

I used to chase every breakout like a headless chicken until I realized most “breakouts” are just smart money sweeping liquidity before reversing hard. Once I flipped my approach to hunt liquidity instead of fighting it, my win rate jumped and my drawdowns shrank. Today I’m laying out the exact step-by-step process I use every single day on Binance. No paid indicators, no hype—just pure price action and common sense.

Step 1: Get Your Chart Setup Right (The Foundation)
Before you hunt anything, your battlefield needs to be clean.

Switch to the Daily or 4H chart first for the big-picture bias. This is where the real liquidity lives.Drop down to 15M or 5M only for entries.
On Binance’s advanced chart, enable:
Volume bars (watch for spikes near key levels) EMA 50 & 200 (just to know the trend direction) Horizontal lines or rectangle tool for marking zones
That’s it. Overloading your chart with 17 indicators is how you miss the forest for the trees.

Step 2: Mark the Liquidity Zones (Where the Prey Hides)
Liquidity pools form where retail traders put their stops or pending orders. Look for these tell-tale areas:

Pro move: Focus on the higher-timeframe liquidity first. A daily swing low carries way more weight than a 5-minute one.

Step 3: Wait for the Sweep (The Trigger)
This is the money step. Don’t enter early.

Watch for these three things happening together:

Price drifts toward your marked liquidity zone on decent volume.A sudden, aggressive wick (long shadow) raids the zone — often taking out the equal high/low in one candle.Immediate displacement: price reverses sharply away from the zone on strong momentum.

That wick? That’s the liquidity grab. Smart money just filled their orders by taking out all the weak hands. The real move is usually the opposite direction.

I call this “the fakeout that pays” — and it happens literally every week on major pairs like BTC/USDT .
Step 4: Enter the Trade Like a Surgeon
Once the sweep is confirmed:

Long setup: Liquidity swept below a low → price closes back above recent structure.Short setup: Liquidity swept above a high → price closes back below recent structure.

Entry rules I live by:
Aggressive: Market order right after the strong reversal candle.Conservative: Wait for a small pullback into the zone and enter on the next impulse.Stop-loss: Always 1–2% beyond the liquidity extreme (never tight—give it room to breathe).Targets: Next opposite liquidity zone or a 1:3 risk-reward minimum.
