Bitcoin processed more than 820,000 transactions in a day, the highest count in over two years, as activity tied to the Runes protocol surged, according to CoinDesk, citing Glassnode data. Transactions carrying Rune protocol messages, known as Runestones, exceeded 600,000 per day, and Rune-related activity generated roughly 25% of all Bitcoin transaction fees. Bitcoin was trading around $62,000, about 50% below its October all time high.
