i spent some time thinking about what sovereignty means when AI infrastructure is shared.

OpenGradient describes the Neuro Stack as a modular, open-source development stack for building AI-enabled appchains and L2 networks. These networks can develop specialized infrastructure and precompiles while using OpenGradient’s HACA architecture, inference, data and storage nodes, Model Hub, SDK, and settlement network.

At first, the idea seemed ideal.

Developers can create a specialized blockchain while using OpenGradient’s existing tools for models, computing, and verification.

But sovereignty becomes more complicated when important primitives remain shared.

Depending on its design, a Neuro Stack chain may control its application logic, rules, specialized infrastructure, potentially its own token or blockspace while still depending on OPG for parts of its inference, model tooling, data, storage, and settlement path.

That does not make the chain meaningless or non-sovereign.

It means sovereignty can exist at the application and governance layers while operational dependencies remain elsewhere in the stack.

Thats the part i keep coming back to.

Shared primitives can reduce the cost of creating specialized AI networks and allow tools developed for one Neuro Stack chain to be reused by others. But different chains may still build around those primitives using different rules, precompiles, and application assumptions.

More customization could therefore expand experimentation while also making standards, tooling, and user expectations less consistent.

@OpenGradient current documentation still describes multiple Neuro Stack chains as being developed with clients in private alpha. It also says broader interoperability and coordination primitives are still being developed, so the rollout should not be presented as an already mature public network of appchains

Does shared infrastructure make sovereign AI appchains practical, or create specialized networks whose independence remains closely tied to the same underlying stack?
