🚨 BREAKING: 🇹🇷
A Turkish oil tanker carrying around 1 million barrels of Russian crude has reportedly been struck by drones just 15 miles from the Bosphorus Strait, according to Bloomberg.
The vessel, M/T Altura, had departed from Novorossiysk, Russia with approximately 140,000 tons of oil. The strike caused a powerful explosion, flooding the engine room and damaging the bridge.
⚠️ Why this matters:
The attack happened dangerously close to the Bosphorus Strait — one of the world’s most vital maritime chokepoints
Roughly 3% of global oil supply flows through this route every day
The tanker is reportedly EU-sanctioned and part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet”
This marks the second shadow fleet tanker hit in the Black Sea this year
🌍 Bigger picture:
The Black Sea is seeing rising drone threats to energy shipping
Meanwhile, tensions continue around the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf
Two of the world’s most critical oil transit routes are now under pressure at the same time
⚡ Markets and geopolitical risk are heating up fast.
