Strategy’s preferred stock STRC has rapidly become the most liquid preferred equity in the market, highlighting growing investor demand for Bitcoin-linked financial instruments. The development comes as market participants speculate that the company may have acquired more than 1,000 BTC in the past week, continuing its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy.

STRC Leads Preferred Stocks in Liquidity

Strategy co-founder Michael Saylor recently revealed that STRC is currently the most liquid preferred stock this month. The stock has recorded an average daily trading volume of approximately $296 million, significantly surpassing other major preferred equities.

For comparison, several other widely traded preferred stocks are far behind in terms of liquidity:

  • BA preferred stock — around $35.8 million daily volume

  • KKR preferred stock — about $33.5 million

  • FOUR preferred stock — roughly $27.6 million

Even within Strategy’s own preferred stock lineup, STRC has taken the lead. Other preferred shares such as STRK, STRF, and STRD have average daily trading volumes of $18.8 million, $14.5 million, and $14.4 million, respectively.

Another factor driving strong demand is STRC’s 11.50% dividend yield, which has attracted both institutional and retail investors looking for income while maintaining exposure to the company’s Bitcoin-focused strategy.

Institutional Investors Fuel Demand

Interest in STRC is not limited to individual investors. Several institutions have also begun allocating capital to the stock.

One notable example is Strive Asset Management, which recently allocated $50 million to STRC—representing more than one-third of its corporate treasury.

Strive CEO Matt Cole explained the rationale behind the decision, noting that allocating treasury funds to instruments like STRC can provide strong yield potential while maintaining price stability and liquidity, instead of leaving cash idle with minimal returns.

Strive joins a growing list of institutions investing in STRC, including:

  • Prevalon Energy

  • Anchorage Digital

  • OranjeBTC

Meanwhile, Strategy CEO Phong Le highlighted the stock’s strong performance, noting that during the 10 days leading up to March 11, STRC consistently traded at its par value of $100, while trading volume increased more than fivefold.

Although the stock recently dipped slightly below that level and is currently trading around $99.75, trading activity remains strong. Daily volume recently reached $298 million, exceeding the current average.

A Key Engine in Strategy’s Bitcoin Accumulation

STRC has become an essential component of Strategy’s Bitcoin accumulation flywheel—a strategy where the company raises capital through equity or preferred share offerings and uses the proceeds to purchase Bitcoin.

According to reports, Strategy purchased 17,994 BTC last week for approximately $1.28 billion. To help finance this acquisition, the company sold 3.8 million shares, generating about $377.1 million in net proceeds.

Data from STRC.live suggests that share sales tied to STRC could potentially fund another major Bitcoin purchase. Estimates indicate that the company may have bought as much as 11,042 BTC this week using proceeds generated through these offerings.

If confirmed, this would represent Strategy’s largest Bitcoin purchase funded through STRC sales so far this year.

Market Predicts Another Bitcoin Purchase

Crypto market participants are increasingly confident that Strategy has continued accumulating Bitcoin. Prediction market data from Polymarket currently suggests a 98% probability that Strategy will announce a purchase of more than 1,000 BTC by March 16.

Such an announcement would further reinforce Strategy’s position as one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin globally.

Growing Role of Bitcoin-Linked Financial Instruments

The rising popularity of STRC highlights a broader trend in financial markets: increasing demand for Bitcoin-linked securities that offer both yield and exposure to digital assets.

As institutional interest in Bitcoin continues to grow, financial instruments like STRC could play an increasingly important role in bridging traditional capital markets and the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
