Hey all! After reading a lot about Sign, here’s my attempt to explain it simply
Hope u enjoy😇
Usually, to prove something important, we need a "Boss" to vouch for us. To prove you have a degree, you need a University. To prove you own a house, you need a Government Registry. To prove you sent money, you need a Bank.
We don't actually trust the paper; we trust the organization that gave it to us. But if that organization closes down or decides to block you, your proof becomes a worthless piece of paper.
Sign Protocol changes the game.
Imagine your proof (like a diploma, a work recommendation, or an ID) is no longer locked inside a company’s safe. Instead, it becomes a "living" digital object that belongs to you.
How it works:
The Template (Schemas): Think of this as a blank form. It decides what information is important (like Name, Date, and Signature). This is the foundation.
The Stamp (Attestations): This is when the form is filled out and "signed" with a digital seal. The magic is that any computer in the world can verify this seal instantly—without having to call the bank or university that issued it.
Why is this important?
Trust becomes "portable." You don't have to ask a middleman for permission every time you need to prove who you are. Your proof travels with you. It’s understood by any app, any service, and any country because they all start speaking the same "language of trust."
What’s the catch?
This is the tricky part. Whoever creates the "blank form" (the schema) basically decides what counts as "truth" in this system. If the form doesn't have a box for "honesty," then you can't prove you're honest using that system.
The real battle of the future isn't just about making documents digital. It’s about making sure the rules for this digital trust are created by all of us-not just by the richest and most powerful corporations.
In short: Sign Protocol is a technology that replaces old-fashioned paper stamps with "smart digital badges" that you own and control.
