Poi, una settimana dopo, ti chiedi perché i tuoi ordini limite non vengono eseguiti come prima, o perché il prezzo sembra... nervoso. Questa è la dimensione del tick.

So Binance is tweaking the “tick size” on a bunch of futures pairs over the next few days.
And yeah, I know how that sounds.
Most people read “tick size update” and their brain just… checks out. I get it. It’s not a meme coin pumping. It’s not a Bitcoin crash. It’s boring.
But here’s the thing. It’s not boring.
I’ve been caught off guard by this stuff before. You don’t notice it at first. Then a week later you’re wondering why your limit orders aren’t filling the way they used to, or why price feels… jumpy. That’s the tick size.
So what’s actually changing?
Some pairs are getting smaller ticks. More price levels. Tighter spreads.
Like BASEDUSDT and ENAUSDT. They’re moving from 0.0001 down to 0.00001. That’s ten times more precise.
DENTUSDT is getting even tighter. Almost silly tight.
But then you’ve got pairs like GUAUSDT and SIRENUSDT where the tick size is going up. Less precision. Bigger steps between prices.
Why you should actually care
Smaller tick size sounds good, right? More control.
But here’s the catch I’ve learned the hard way: tighter ticks also attract more algos. And more algos mean faster fakeouts. Price starts twitching on tiny volume. Great for scalpers. Annoying for everyone else.
Bigger tick size? Less noise, sure. But your entries feel clunky. You might want to enter at 0.12345 but the market only lets you pick 0.1235 or 0.1234. That adds up over a hundred trades.
It’s like driving on a road with speed bumps every few feet versus a smooth highway. Both get you there. But one is way more annoying.
Heads up – don’t ignore this part
A few contracts are getting temporary trading pauses during the update:

ALICEUSDT
DENTUSDT
OGNUSDT
DYDXUSDT
Most are just a minute. ALICE is a bit longer.
But in that minute? You can’t place, cancel, or modify orders. Nothing.
If you’ve got an open position and price moves hard against you… you just have to sit there and watch. Not fun.
So maybe don’t hold anything in those pairs right when the update hits. Just saying.
