🇺🇸 Major Privacy Breach: Stalkerware Leak Exposes 86,000 Screenshots
A shocking cybersecurity incident has revealed the dangers of stalkerware. Researcher Jeremiah Fowler discovered an unprotected database containing nearly 87,000 screenshots secretly taken from a European celebrity’s phone. These images included highly sensitive information such as private conversations from WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, along with personal photos, ID documents, and contact details.
What makes this case especially alarming is how stalkerware operates. Instead of breaking encryption directly, it captures screenshots from the device itself—bypassing end-to-end encryption protections. This means even “secure” apps can be compromised if the device is infected.
Fowler acted quickly by notifying the victim and reporting the issue to law enforcement. However, this incident highlights a growing global threat where individuals’ private lives can be exposed without their knowledge.
Experts warn users to stay vigilant: avoid installing unknown apps, regularly check device permissions, and use trusted security tools. As digital privacy becomes increasingly fragile, this leak is a reminder that personal data protection requires constant awareness.
