Crypto News - May 4, 2026: Quick Update
Bitcoin’s pulling back. It’s at $74,700, down 3% today after it couldn’t hold $78K. People are taking profits. ETFs also saw $101M leave yesterday.
But not everyone’s selling. Michael Saylor’s company bought 171K BTC this year alone. He said they’ll probably keep buying all new BTC mined till 2140.
Ethereum’s doing worse than BTC. ETH is $2,028, down 4%. ETH vs BTC hit a 2026 low. ETH ETFs had outflows for 9 days straight. Money’s moving to Bitcoin for now.
XRP’s the odd one out. While BTC/ETH ETFs are bleeding, XRP ETFs got $8.8M inflows yesterday. No outflow days in May so far. New wallets are popping up too, 4,300 in 24hrs.
Other quick hits:
1. Bitget launched a “Crypto Is Dead” campaign for Bitcoin Pizza Day. Basically saying every “crypto is dead” headline just starts the next run.
2. Bitget Wallet now lets you pay with USDC/USDT via QR in Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia.
3. UK banned crypto donations for political parties.
What’s next? Fed minutes drop today at 18:00 GMT. If Bitcoin can’t break $80K soon, $71.4K is the next support to watch.
That’s it for today.
