Spain Leads Implementation as Member States Finalize Rules
Spain announced this week it will fully enforce DAC8 beginning January 1, followed by complete implementation of the Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation by July 1, 2026. More than 60 crypto firms currently registered in Spain will need to secure full authorization to continue operations beyond the July deadline.
Germany's upper house approved its DAC8 implementation law on December 23, joining other EU member states racing to transpose the directive into national legislation by the December 31, 2025 deadline. Denmark and the Netherlands have already enacted implementing regulations in recent months.
