A new security threat targeting crypto users has been discovered, and it specifically affects iPhone devices.
Researchers have identified a powerful exploit kit called Coruna that can break into vulnerable iPhones and steal crypto wallet data, including recovery phrases and financial information. The toolkit reportedly uses 23 different iOS vulnerabilities and several exploit chains to bypass Apple’s security protections.
What makes this attack concerning is how it spreads. In many cases, users only need to visit a malicious website for the exploit to trigger. Once a vulnerable device is detected, the attack can search for crypto wallets, seed phrases, and other sensitive financial data stored on the phone.
Security researchers say the exploit mainly targets older iOS versions between iOS 13 and iOS 17.2.1. Newer versions of iOS have already patched many of these vulnerabilities, which means updating your device is one of the most important protection steps.
The exploit kit has reportedly moved from surveillance operations to cybercrime campaigns, where attackers attempt to steal cryptocurrency through fake exchanges, gambling sites, or compromised web pages.
For crypto users, this is a reminder that wallet security is just as important as trading strategy. Avoid storing seed phrases on your phone, keep your device updated, and be cautious when visiting unknown crypto websites.
Have you ever stored a wallet or seed phrase on your phone while trading crypto?
