The attacker exploited a vulnerability in KelpDAO’s LayerZero bridge to mint 116,500 unbacked rsETH tokens (a liquid restaking token). Instead of selling them, they deposited nearly 90,000 rsETH into Aave as collateral to borrow ~$190 million in ETH, leaving Aave with a massive bad debt hole.
