You Don’t Own the AI — You Own Access

Everyone keeps saying AI NFTs let you “own intelligence.”

That’s not what’s happening.

What you actually hold is a permission layer — a token that routes your request to an off-chain model, gets processed, and returns an answer.

Under the hood, it looks like this:

User → Smart Contract → API / Model → Output

The intelligence itself?

Still centralized in most cases.

So if that API goes down… your “AI NFT” goes silent.

This is where most people are getting it wrong:

They’re buying wrappers, not systems.

The real leverage isn’t minting AI NFTs — it’s controlling:

• Training data

• Fine-tuning pipelines

• Inference infrastructure

Until then, most AINFTs are just interfaces with tokens attached.

My take:

If your AI NFT depends on someone else’s server, you don’t own an asset — you’re renting intelligence.
