Why Robots Need Financial Identity
ok so i been reading about this thing called Fabric and honestly its mind blowing. you know how robots are everywhere now? in factories warehouses even delivering food. but heres the problem theyre all isolated. like each robot is just a tool owned by one company doing one thing. they cant talk to each other or pay for stuff themselves. the people behind Fabric say robots dont have financial identites. humans have passports bank accounts can sign contracts. robots got nothing . so theyre stuck being tools instead of actual economic players.
theres this professor from stanford named jan liphardt who started the company building this stuff . they raised like 20 million dollars from pantera capital and coinbase ventures and others to fix this problem . so defenitely some smart people think its important. three big things are happening right now that make this possible. first AI finally got good enough to understand the real world. second robot hardware is cheap enough to mass produce. third theres huge labor shortages everywhere in factories and hospitals and cleaning services . so the timing is actually perfect for robots to start working along side humans.
How Fabric Gives Robots Financial Freedom
so Fabric is building this whole system to give robots economic independence. they got this operating system called OM1 which is like android but for robots. it works on any robot no matter who made them . so a robot from one company can share skills with a robot from another company which is pretty cool. imagine a delivery robot learning a new route from another robot it never met before. thats the idea.
they also got this protocol layer on blockchain where robots get there own cryptographic identities. like a digital passport that follows them everywhere . and they get wallets too. so a robot can actually hold money and pay for stuff. like if a drones battery is dying it can find a charging station and just pay without asking a human . thats wild to think about. the token is called ROBO and it launched on feb 27 2026 on the base network. total supply is 10 billion tokens . they put like 250k into liquidity pools to get it started and did airdrops for early contributors . the era of isolated machines is ending they say. robots are becoming actual economic participants. we'll see but its defenitely something to watch.
