One small waterway holds the power to shake the entire global economy.
It’s called the Strait of Hormuz.
This narrow passage sits between Iran and Oman.
But an enormous share of the world’s energy flows through it every day.
Around 20% of the world’s oil passes through this route.
Nearly 27% of all oil shipped by sea moves through here.
Even 20% of global LNG trade depends on this narrow channel.
On an average day, about 100 cargo ships cross the strait.
And 60–70% of them are oil or gas tankers.
Most of that energy is heading to Asia, which buys the majority of oil and LNG coming through Hormuz.
That’s why this small strip of water is one of the most important energy routes on the planet.
If anything disrupts it, the impact is felt across the entire global market.
