Historically, the emphasis of blockchain development has been on performance, scalability, and centralization; however, one aspect that has typically not been taken into account during the evolution of blockchain technologies is privacy (the lack of). Publicly available ledger systems provide transparency and the ability for users to have full visibility over their transactions, and thus provide the convenience and security of having access to their transaction history if so desired. As Web 3.0 has evolved out of speculation and into "real world" implementation, privacy has become an even greater issue than originally anticipated.
@MidnightNetwork represents a new way of approaching this problem. Other blockchains are being developed to include privacy as an optional feature, while we have built liquidity and anonymity into our architecture from day one. We are implementing zero-knowledge technology into our network to enable users to independently verify transactions without having to share with one another their individual reasons for determining whether a transaction transaction is valid.
This has created new opportunities for businesses to conduct business interactions across multiple networks without revealing proprietary information; individuals can verify their identity without giving up every piece of personal information; and developers can create decentralized applications using the security features offered by the blockchain to protect sensitive data.
The center piece of this entire ecosystem is the $NIGHT token which acts as the primary means to participate in the Midnight Network. The privacy tokens may play an important role in fueling future demand for secure digital based solutions.
The blockchain industry continues to transition from purely transparent models to models that encourage trust.
