On March 18, 2025, the AiXBT platform, a prominent artificial intelligence agent in the cryptocurrency space, suffered a security breach that resulted in the theft of 55.50 Ethereum, equivalent to approximately $104,000. The attacker managed to access the control panel of the independent AiXBT system and scheduled malicious responses that led to funds being transferred from the platform's Simulacrum wallet.
The developer known as rxbt confirmed that the AiXBT platforms were not affected, and the breach was not the result of a flaw in the artificial intelligence itself, as preventive measures were in place. In response, AiXBT migrated servers, changed keys, and temporarily halted access to the control panel for security improvements, as well as reported the hacker's address to exchanges to prevent further incidents.
This breach resulted in a 15.5% drop in the value of the AiXBT token, falling to $0.09 after the incident. This incident raised concerns about the security of AI-based systems in the cryptocurrency space, highlighting the need for stronger security measures to protect user assets and maintain trust in the ecosystem.
