U.S. July PPI exceeds expectations; my first reaction and operational thinking
Upon seeing 'PPI exceeding expectations' early in the morning, three things immediately crossed my mind:
Interest rate expectations become cautious → The probability of a stronger dollar increases → Crypto assets must accept volatility testing in the short term.
PPI reflects production costs, often leading CPI. When production costs rise, the Federal Reserve won't easily loosen policy, and the market's imagination of 'quick rate cuts' will be dampened.
What this means for the crypto space
Emotional aspect: Risk appetite will be slightly compressed, chasing up will converge, and volatility will increase.
On the funding side: when the dollar and interest rates rise, institutions are more willing to reduce leverage and risk first; on the crypto side, we look at defense first.
