The Iranian parliament reviewed bills on April 5 about its jurisdiction over the Strait of Hormuz and agreed to form a dedicated committee to draft a comprehensive plan. The effort follows a plan approved by the parliament’s National Security Committee on March 30 that would give the Iranian military a control role in the strait. That plan would also bar ships from the United States, Israel, and countries that impose unilateral sanctions on Iran, while adding measures on safety, customs, finance, and environmental protection.
