The Bank of Korea cited media ownership laws to support a bank-led model for won stablecoins, including a 50% plus one share bank ownership rule for issuers. Materials submitted to Democratic Party lawmaker Park Min-gyu's office pointed to Article 8 of the Broadcasting Act and Article 18 of the Newspaper Act. Critics said using media ownership laws to justify stablecoin regulation is a logical leap.
