Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier launched an investigation into OpenAI and ChatGPT as the company said more than 900 million people use the chatbot each week. Uthmeier said the probe will examine national security, child safety, criminal misuse, and whether foreign adversaries could access OpenAI data. OpenAI said it will cooperate, while investigators are also reviewing reports that ChatGPT may have been used by the suspect in the 2025 Florida State University shooting.
